(Reuters) – The Indian govt has permitted Chinese telecom enterprise Huawei Technologies Co to participate in trials for 5G networks, a firm spokesman stated on Monday.

India’s nod to Huawei arrives at a time when the world rollout of 5G know-how has been challenging by U.S. sanctions from the enterprise. The United States has been lobbying allies not to use Huawei’s network devices in their 5G networks.

Indian television channel CNBC-Television set18 documented the news very first, citing a senior formal. The trials will be held in January, according to the formal, the channel noted.

India’s telecom division was not promptly accessible for comment outside frequent organization several hours.

The telecom office will meet up with operators on Dec. 31 to ensure the timing for 5G trials, CNBC-Tv18 described, declaring all wi-fi operators in India experienced been given in-principle approvals to carry out the trials.
